Meet the Founder of Arizona Elite Baseball Academy
I'm Zach “ZJ” Buster, Founder and Director of Arizona Elite Baseball Academy (AEBA). For more than 15 years, baseball has been at the center of my life, from competing as a collegiate athlete to coaching, mentoring, and developing young players across the country.
Originally from a small suburb outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, I earned a baseball scholarship to Louisiana Tech University as a switch-hitting second baseman. After three years competing at the Division I and Junior College levels, I transitioned into coaching and spent two years as a student manager with Louisiana State University's baseball program while completing my degree.
My experience at LSU helped shape my approach to coaching and leadership. Working within one of college baseball's most respected programs taught me the importance of preparation, attention to detail, accountability, and maintaining a standard of excellence in everything we do.
In 2020, I relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, where I spent two years coaching with the Scottsdale Dirtbags before founding Arizona Elite Baseball Academy in 2022.
AEBA began with a simple vision: build a player development organization, not a player collection organization.
What started as one team has grown into a baseball community built on relationships, purposeful development, competitive opportunities, and shared values. Since arriving in Arizona, I've had the privilege of working with more than 500 families through the game.
I believe youth baseball should be about more than wins, rankings, and trophies. It's about building confidence, developing character, embracing challenges, and preparing young athletes for opportunities both on and off the field.
At AEBA, our philosophy is simple: Transformation over transaction. Development over collection. People over everything.
We're not just developing baseball players. We're building champions for life.
